Construction begins on NBC-5's new home
Posted July 5, 2012

Officials broke ground June 29 on the new, 75,000-square-foot home of KXAS-TV/NBC-5 at CentrePort Business Park in east Fort Worth.
The state-of-the-art facility will bring Dallas and Fort Worth multimedia news operations— including KXAS-TV, NBCUniversal, and Telemundo—together under one roof.
KXAS-TV, originally WBAP-TV, was the first television station in Texas, sending its inaugural transmission on Sept. 28, 1948. The station was then owned by Star-Telegram publisher Amon G. Carter, and the new station's address was picked to honor his legacy. The new facility will be located at 4805 Amon Carter Boulevard: “48” to honor the first broadcast, “05” to recognize NBC-5 and Amon Carter Boulevard in appreciation of Carter’s contributions to the station and Fort Worth.
The new facility is set to open in 2013.
